Unless you are living in a deep dark hole, you’re bound to have heard about Git.  What I haven’t understood until now is why Git, or more correctly why distribute version control and why would I even consider using it?

Today I stumbled over this video of Linus Torvalds giving a talk at Google about Git. It’s a little long (just over an hour), but well worth watching.  I can now at least appreciate the power of a distributed source control system (even if I probably wouldn’t use one in the forseeable future).
